Raw Material Origin
Coconut shell charcoal is made from coconut shells - a byproduct of coconut processing in coconut-producing regions such as Sulawesi and North Sumatra. The shells are carbonized and processed into charcoal material.
Wood charcoal is made from harvested timber that is carbonized in kilns. The properties of wood charcoal vary with the tree species and the carbonization method.
Typical Applications
Coconut shell charcoal briquettes are commonly used for shisha / hookah and BBQ / grill applications. The briquette form - Cube, Hexagonal, Finger, or Flower - is pressed from crushed charcoal material with a natural tapioca starch binder.
Wood charcoal is often used for grilling where a smoky wood aroma is part of the intended experience.
Specification Approach
Because both fuels vary with raw material and processing, buyers should evaluate suppliers on defined specifications rather than marketing language:
- Quality grade with agreed ranges for ash, moisture, volatile matter, and targets for fixed carbon and calorific value
- Approved dimensions with tolerances
- Applicable COA / SDS documents according to order and shipment
